Johnny graduated top-of-class at KVB College of Fine Arts and has had his short films do the rounds at international film festivals, such as Sydney Sour Grapes, the San Francisco Film Festival, and the Cannes Film Festival. With well over 1000 hours of international broadcast TV under his belt, Johnny has travelled the globe through Europe and Asian Continent.

He produced and directed Late Again, a short film that won awards in San Francisco, Cleveland, and Sydney. His other long form work includes the television shows The Mamaritas and Cyber Shack.

His short film, ‘Platinum Chisel,’ did the rounds at Cannes and was invited to screen at several other film festivals around the world.

As a music lover, Johnny has directed music videos for singer/songwriter Bobby Flynn, Aussie hard rock band Hell City Glamours’ Josephine, and Bob Evans’ song ‘Pasha Bulker’, which was awarded at the Australian Cinematographers Society Awards.

Johnny has directed TV commercials for brands such as Qantas, Caroma, Telstra, Meyer Raco Cookware, Saudi RTA, Clarendon Homes, HCF Insurance, and Pharmacare, as well as a Movember commercial that was featured on Campaign Brief’s ‘Best Ads’.

Johnny was also the director behind the televised coverage of the Red Bull Flugtag event on Sydney Harbour, and his work as an editor on the news promo ‘The Drum’ was awarded Best News Promo at the 2010 PROMAXB—DA Design World Gold Awards.

Johnny has directed the opening credits for popular Australian TV shows ‘Home and Away’, ‘Missing Persons Unit’, and ‘Hi-5’, and directed station idents for ABC 1, ABC 2, UK TV, Network Ten, and the Seven Network.

Ever since producing and directing the Super Touring Championship for the Seven Network as his first professional engagement, motorsport has played a defining but not exclusive role in his career. Johnny has directed the racing programmes for Porsche Carrera Cup, RPM programmes, Le Mans North America, and Ferrari Challenge Asia and worked as a producer on the FIA Formula One Melbourne Grand Prix for over seven years.

For over ten years, Johnny was the series creative director for the Asian Le Mans Series, taking place throughout Japan, China, South Korea, Malaysia, the United Emirates and Australia.

Following this sporting theme, he has directed many TVCs featuring Australian super teams, such as the Queensland Reds, the Rugby Brumbies, and the Australian Socceroos.

One of his strengths as a director is his ability to connect with talent and put them at ease in front of the camera. First-time actors and experienced celebrities alike have been on the receiving end of Johnny's crazy antics, which contribute to putting everyone at ease. This supportive creative environment helps to draw a depth of expression from all involved.

Johnny is also adept at working with various famous sporting personalities, such as Liverpool goalkeeper Brad Jones, race car driver Greg Murphy, Olympic gold medal swimmer Jodie Henry, cricketer and commentator Brett Lee, cricketer Shane Watson, Chiefs Super Rugby captain Liam Messam, and Wallabies star rugby player Will Genia.

In the entertainment sector, Johnny has worked with TV lifestyle presenter Catriona Rowntree, Antonia Kidman and prominent celebrity trainers Michelle Bridges and Shannan Ponton and has shot several TVCs with the likes of former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins.
